The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood is a dystopian look at the USA which has been torn apart by fundamentalist wars. Women's role in society has been reduced to simply reproducing when they can, or being faithful wives and servants. First published in 1985, it has come back into the spotlight thanks to a new successful TV series and also the political climate in America.

You can find a link to a PDF and Kindle edition of the book below, however it is easy to find second hand copies , or of course you can always join your local library!
