We have two kinds of courses during the academic year - General English and Exam preparation. We prepare exams for FCE, CAE and Proficiency Cambridge Exams, as well as the Academic IELTS exam. Our General English courses run from an A1-C1 level (CEFR).
The difference between the courses is that the exam preparation course has a 50% focus on exam technique and 50% language development, while the general English class is only focused on language development. |
Our courses help you develop all skills in English (reading, writing, listening and speaking) as well as improve your language level through vocabulary and grammar aspect. We put a great deal of focus on increasing vocabulary, pronunciation techniques, functional language and task based learning. We don't take grammar as the centre of our courses, rather approach it in context.
Our full-time courses (6 hours a week) are £180 per 4 week block , and part time (3 hours a week) are £100. Included in your fee is access to our Online Unlimited course which is a further 3 hours a week of class time plus self-study material.
These classes are Book Group (Tuesdays 6-6.45pm), Vocabulary Building class ( Fridays 11-11.45am), Scottish History (Fridays 12-12.45pm) and Skills (self-study). You will have access to our Google Classroom space, online materials, and a half hour private tutorial a month.
We have a very generous policy for making up missed classes where you have up to two weeks in the following month to recuperate your hours.

Should I do a General English or Exam Preparation Course? This depends on your goals and level. If your level is A1-B1 CEFR, we recommend doing a General English course until your level is high enough to join one of our exam classes.
A lot of students find taking an exam a great goal to motivate them to study English. Even if passing an exam isn't your goal, all of the skills that we cover on the course are fundamental to increasing your level. A lot of exam tasks are also helpful for your today to day English too.
If an exam course isn't what you are looking for, then we recommend following our fantastic Online Unlimited courses. These courses use authentic materials and core vocabulary to raise your level in all four skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing.
