What you will learn
The Cambridge Advanced exam (CAE) is an internationally recognised examination for a C1 level of English. Our preparation course is divided into exam and language development. That means we train you in the technique for each part of the exam, and raise your English to a high C1 level. We also offer you the chance to take a mock test in exam conditions before you present for the certificate, and do a full speaking test with a certified Cambridge examiner.
You will learn core vocabulary for common exam topics and core grammar for a C1 level.
There is extensive skills training for your speaking and writing exam and your teacher will take you through the best exam strategy to maximise your marks. As well as helping you reach your goals, you will also discover how you can apply this knowledge in your day-to-day English.
Flexible course dates
In order to offer our students as much flexibility as possible, your subscription is on a monthly basis. We also offer you the option to make up any missed classes in a different timetable.

Who is this course for?
Many students find taking an exam a great way to motivate them to study English. Even if passing an exam isn’t your goal, all of the skills that we cover on the course are fundamental to increasing your level and improving your communication. A lot of exam tasks are also helpful for your day-to-day English too. This course is designed for people with a C1 or high B2 level of English. If you have a lower level we recommend following our General English or First Certificate courses first.

If you cannot find an answer to your question, please contact us.
If you are taking the course on a part time basis (2 days a week) we recommend a 6 month preparation period. This is the time it will take you to learn each part of the exam. For full time courses (4 days a week), the recommended preparation period is 3 months. This assumes you have the necessary C1 level to pass your exam. If your level is lower, you will need more time before you are ready to present.
If your level is too low then we can’t accept you onto the course. This is for your own benefit. Although you may think that doing the exam technique is enough, if you don’t have a high enough level to follow the course you will not make progress. It is much better to do one of our general English or First Certificate courses first before doing this exam course.
The language exam you take depends on your needs. As a general rule, if you want to study in the UK or need an English qualification for visa requirements, then IELTS is the best option. If you want a qualification to take back home with you, then Cambridge exams are a better choice.
We ask our students to give us 2 week’s notice if they can no longer continue with their course. We will always send you a reminder asking you to confirm if you are continuing with us. If you tell us after the 2 week’s notice period, there is a £50 cancellation fee which you can use towards 4 classes.
We are not an exam centre, so we can prepare you for the exam but you have to sit it elsewhere. The exam centre we work with is very near the school and we will help you with your application.
It normally takes 6-8 weeks to get your Cambridge exam results
